Sights of Detroit. The most important and interesting sights of Detroit – photos and videos, descriptions and reviews, location, sites.

At one time, Detroit proudly bore the status of the automobile capital of the world. The best models of Ford, Chrysler, Dodge concerns were born here. Then the city in Michigan fell on hard times. The financial crisis struck, and the motor city practically died out. But today many who find themselves in the United States are striving to get here. And if fate brings you across the ocean, feel free to plan a trip to this American city. Despite its industrial past, Detroit has many cultural attractions that are unlikely to be found anywhere else. See citypopulationreview for state facts, symbols and history of Michigan.

The symbol of Detroit and the number one attraction is the picturesque island of Belle Isle – a huge area of untouched nature, where, by the way, you can go fishing, go hunting or just lie in a hammock on the beach.

This, for example, is one of the largest art institutes in the United States or the world’s largest Museum of African History. Of course, you can not pass by museums dedicated to cars. And here for tourists there is a direct road to the Henry Ford Museum. The symbol of Detroit and the number one attraction is the picturesque island of Belle Isle – a huge area of untouched nature, where, by the way, you can go fishing, go hunting or just lie in a hammock on the beach.

In Detroit, in addition to historical and architectural sights, you can also visit a beautiful zoo, take plenty of pictures of animals and feed cute giraffes yourself.

The main transport attraction of Detroit is the Ambassador Bridge, after driving along which you can find yourself in the Canadian city of Windsor.

Henry Ford Museum

Henry Ford Museum (Detroit, USA) – expositions, opening hours, address, phone numbers, official website.

The Henry Ford Museum is, without exaggeration, a treasure of Detroit. On an area of about five hectares, tens of thousands of exhibits are exhibited, one way or another connected with the name of the famous American inventor. The main part of the museum is occupied, of course, by cars. So, the first car produced by Henry Ford back in 1896 is still stored here. The similarity of this unit with modern foreign cars, perhaps, is only in the number of wheels. But this, after all, is the first “swallow” in the chain of automotive evolution.

The Henry Ford Museum in Detroit surprises tourists not only with cars. For example, there are sections where the first American steam locomotives, airplanes, trailers are presented.

Of no less interest is the collection of limousines used by American presidents (note that the Henry Ford Museum exhibits originals from the corteges of Ronald Reagan, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy). But the Henry Ford Museum surprises tourists not only with cars. For example, there are sections where the first American steam locomotives, airplanes, trailers (motorhomes) are presented.

Without exception, all tourists are photographed next to the sausage car. This is literally a car with a giant sausage on the roof. It was necessary to somehow promote the hot dog business… By the way, in case you get hungry, there is a cafe and several eateries in the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit. Here, after a long excursion, you can not only have a bite to eat with delicious burgers and coffee, but also eat thoroughly, tasting delicious local dishes.

The Henry Ford Museum also has two shops that sell all kinds of souvenirs (including copies of museum exhibits), as well as various play sets for children and adults. Opening hours: daily 9:30 – 17:00. The Henry Ford Museum is closed to the public on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
