#2. Frauenkirche
With its substantial dimensions of 109 meters in length, 40 meters in width and 99 meters in height, the Frauenkirche can rightly be called the largest church in Munich. It is striking that the church is largely built of red brick. After about twenty years of construction, the church was consecrated in 1494. The domes were placed on it later. Especially the beautiful stained glass windows, the special art from the 14th to the 18th century and an imprint of a footstep of the devil (Teufelstritt) make a visit to this church interesting.

The museums located in this area are the Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Museum Bradhorst, Türkentor, Glyptothek München, Staatliche Antikensammlungen, Haus der Kulturinstitute, Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst. In 1664, the couple Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide of Savoy commissioned the Italian architect Agostino Barelli to build a palace. Parts of the palace are open to the public as well as the stables where various carriages can be admired. The 200-hectare park is a feast for the eyes. One of the world’s largest and extensive city parks is located here in Munich. This is the Englischen Garten (English Garden).
